10 Pregnancy Do’s and Don’ts

Top 10 Do’s

  1. See your doctor regularly
  2. Continue to take a prenatal vitamin the whole way through pregnancy
  3. Try to eat a variety of healthy foods
  4. Drink extra water!
  5. Continue your regular exercise program with modifications as needed or try to start walking more if you were inactive before pregnancy
  6. Try to get between 7-9 hours of sleep every night
  7. Always wear your seatbelt
  8. Get a flu shot when in season
  9. Participate in a childbirth or parenting class
  10. Try to enjoy it J 40 weeks goes fast!

 

Top 10 Don’ts

  1. Smoke tobacco
  2. Drink alcohol
  3. Eat foods such as raw meat/fish, lunch meat or unpasteurized diary products (see Friday’s post for more on safe foods while pregnant)
  4. Use illegal drugs
  5. Clean or change your cat’s litter box
  6. Use sauna’s or hot-tubs
  7. Douche
  8. Have an X-ray (other than dental if they use an extra covering)
  9. Overindulge in caffeine
  10. Take any over the counter medications without first checking with your doctor
